Poker is a name given to the card games that are played with any number of cards where players bet on which hand wins. The hand is a set of cards that are used to play the game. The poker game varies depending upon the rules of that particular game, number of cards in that game, number of betting rounds and number of face up or face down deals.
The most popular poker games on live22 are:
- Texas Hold’em
- Omaha
- Stud
- Draw
Texas Hold’em
It is one of the most popular poker games of all. In this game, each player is dealt with two cards face down. After this, a betting round known as the flop round takes place. Three community cards are dealt face-up in the mid of the table. After these three community cards are dealt, another betting round takes place before the fourth card is dealt, known as the turn. After the turn, the second last betting round takes place before the final fifth card is dealt known as the river. When the river is dealt, the final betting round occurs. Now, if two players make it to the river, they must expose their hole cards with the best five-card hands taking the pot.
Omaha
The game is a bit similar to Texas Hold’em. There are betting rounds before and on the flop, turn, and river. The difference is that in this game, each player is dealt with four cards instead of two. Here, you have to use your two hole cards to complete a ranked five-card hand.
Stud
Stud poker is dealt with either five or seven cards. You are dealt with three starting cards, two of which will be face down and the other one will be face up. Here, instead of having antes or blinds, a Stud round is initiated by the “bring in” which is a fraction of the main bet. It is required of the player with the lowest value face-up card. As an alternative to community cards, stud players are dealt individual cards face up. The final card of the game is dealt face down.
Draw
Draw poker doesn’t involve any community cards. The action takes place before and after the draw. Each player starts with five hole cards. If they like their hand, they must call, match the size of the blind or raise. But, if they don’t like their hand, they can fold unless they are on the blind. After this round, the game moves to the draw where players can replace the cards in their hands by drawing new cards from the deck. Now, everyone left in the hand has the option of folding, calling, or raising before the showdown takes place.
